SPECIALIZED TREATMENT
Dolphin Neurostim is a microcurrent point stimulation tool that may be incorporated into individualized occupational therapy at Somara when clinically appropriate. It is one possible part of care—not a standalone promise or a replacement for understanding your needs.
Microcurrent point stimulation, or MPS, uses a handheld tool to apply a low-level electrical current to selected points. At Somara, its use is considered alongside your history, assessment, goals, and preferences. It may complement hands-on techniques, movement, and education within occupational therapy. Your response is monitored, and treatment is adjusted with you.
AREAS OF APPLICATION
Scar tissue & surgical recovery
Care may address C-section, abdominal, and other surgical scars, including tissue sensitivity and mobility restrictions. MPS may be considered as one part of an individualized scar-care plan, with attention to healing stage and everyday function.
Pain management
For selected persistent pain and musculoskeletal concerns, treatment may include MPS alongside movement rehabilitation, education, and hands-on care. The focus remains on your assessment, priorities, and ability to participate in daily life—not the tool alone.
Somatic & nervous system-informed care
When appropriate, MPS may be incorporated within a broader approach that considers body awareness, comfort, and nervous system-related treatment goals. Grounding, breathing, and gentle movement may also support everyday function. This care is within occupational therapy and is not psychotherapy.
We begin by discussing your concerns and assessing whether MPS is appropriate. Alexis will explain the proposed treatment, review relevant health considerations, and ask for your consent. If used, it may form part of a session alongside other therapy approaches. You can ask questions, request adjustments, pause, or decline at any point. Treatment is paced to your comfort and readiness; responses vary.
FOR HEALTHCARE PROFESSIONALS
Discuss a collaboration
Somara welcomes collaboration with physicians, surgeons, and healthcare professionals seeking individualized occupational therapy support for patients navigating scar-related concerns, persistent pain, and functional recovery.
Dolphin Neurostim delivers microcurrent point stimulation and may be considered as an adjunct to occupational therapy for selected scar-related or musculoskeletal concerns. Clinical reasoning, relevant precautions, healing stage, patient preferences, and functional goals guide its use. Treatment response is individual; specific outcomes are not guaranteed.
Alexis is an occupational therapist with a Master of Science in Occupational Therapy from New York University and specialized training that includes Dolphin Neurostim. Her work integrates pelvic health, whole-body rehabilitation, hands-on techniques, movement, and nervous system-informed care.
To discuss a potential referral or collaboration, contact Somara with a general inquiry. Please avoid sending sensitive patient information by email; we can discuss an appropriate way to coordinate care with the patient’s consent.
